Three very different dogs

Dog number 3! A very coarse long haired fluffy dog but luckily with a lot more colour than the previous one. I had to work quite long with this fellows eyes because they were quite hidden and totally red. Oh, and I adore this dogs eyebrows! :)

Three very different dogs

Dog number 2! This dog was completely white with only some blueish shadows to make any sort of contrast. Colours and shadows are a lot more natural when you don´t have to use a photograph as a reference. Lighting in photos tends to be a very strong frontal flash and believe me trying to make the eyes look normal after staring a picture with totally red eyes and unnatural lighting is more challenging than it sounds.

Three very different dogs

I always enjoy a challenge and the next three pictures definately were. Three very different looking dogs, different fur coats, different contrasts in colour and very different angles in photographing. So i present to you doggy number 1!

4 Horses

As promised I´ll be adding new drawings now that there is no worry of the receivers finding out too early :) So these horses were a christmas present and as a little bonus you may now see my fingertips on the edge of the pic! Happy New Year!

Update

There will be in total of 5 new posts coming after Christmas :) Will be looking forward to that. I tried to scan them but apparently my scanner is just not good enough and the pictures turned out to be very grainy with missing ear tips and whatnot.
So once again I forced my sister to come over with her better camera to take a few pictures. She was actually sick this time but came to help me out anyway :) Thank you Katri <3

Roni

Newest piece made as a present for Roni's owner. Drawing a black dog with a hint of grey and with this much fur is not an easy task :) You can click on the picture to see a bigger version. Most of my drawings are usually A4 size.

Update

I have now officially added a visitor calculator system on to this blog.. I´ll probably visit this like every other hour just to be able to cry at the low numbers :D
Too bad i got it a little late, would have been interesting to see how advertising and such helps on the numbers.

It´s nice to see that the autumn is here after a very hot summer. I´m really not a summer person.. and neither are my dogs :) It´s a lot more enjoyable to for me and for them to go out and NOT get a heatstroke.
Bit of a sad news on my lovely doberman boy tho. The "childhood" trauma of his has been secretly gnawing on his muscles and bones and is making him very stiff, like an old dog.. and he´s only 3. It´s gonna be a lot of different type of exercise for us from now on..

Been really interested in starting a new painting since i got some nice canvases from grandma. Maybe one of you could give me an idea or an inspiration. And keep those pictures coming, i really love to draw and i would love to make a drawing of your pet! You can send me your best pet pics at heidi.lundberg@pinserikauppa.fi and i will let you know when it´s done. I´ll send it to you via traditional mail and you´ll pay the agreed price when picking up. The mailing fee includes in the actual price so you don´t have to worry about that.
I can also frame the picture for you if so agreed.

Have a happy autumn everyone!

Sweet Sheep

Oilpainting of two little sheep on a very night-time coloured meadow. I made this as a wedding gift to a very sweet friendcouple of mine. The sheep on the painting are two oldest ones of their now flock of four sheep. They only had two when i started this but starting my own store got in the way and i just recently finished the backround for this one. I´m very pleased with how it turned out tho :) and as you might be able to guess, they like violet. <3

A Fish

And then something little different. A fish i drew for decour into my store. Made with a black markerpen.

Meli

Meli was my first dog, a pincher.. of course.. This is a painting i made of her in 2002. Adjusted the colours to make it look more like it looks in real light.

Cali

This is a drawing of my minipin Cali. She was enjoying the sun on the sofa. This is a photo of a drawing and therefore the quality might not be very good. I tried adjusting the sharpness a little. :)

Muusa

This one is slightly older. Made with coal. It´s different from my usual style of accurate drawing but instead made entirely with the contrast of light and shadow. The drawing is quite big ad should be viewed from afar.

Beagle

This picture of a beagle was made from a photograph to a customer. Made with coal. Copyrights owned by me.

Laku

This is a pencil work I made from a photograph. A dog training group ordered it as a present for their leader. Copyrights owned by me. This is a photograph of the painting and therefore the paper looks very blue.

Fidelio & Marzelline

A painting of two sleeping cats. This was a painting i made for my in-laws. Copyrights owned by me.

Very first blog

Welcome to my blog! If you´re here by accident or out of pure interest, give me a moment to convince you to keep on reading and maybe even come back every once in a while! :)

I am a young self taught artist from Finland where I own a small pet store in a small town.  My grandmother loves to paint and she has set up a small painting studio in her own attic. Ever since i was little (old enough to hold a pencil) I have been encouraged and inspired by her to draw and paint.

My passion for art didn´t fade over the years of growing up and I painted and drew most of my teenage. On few occasions I was asked by family, friends and the people who knew me, to make a drawing for them from the subject of their choosing. Usually this was pets and children.

My other passion is animals which in turn spurred me to start my own store when i got the opportunity. Still getting asked to do portraits, i decided to offer that to a wider range of customers, not just my family and friends. Now I keep a selection of paintings and drawings in the store for people to see.

In this blog I will post regularly my art and i´m very open to suggestions and even a little critique. :)
I make portraits in the base of photographs given/sent to me.

Enjoy!
